Baptist Community Center operates a Ladies Bible Study, Ladies Quilting class, an After-School Ministry, Summer Camps and soon a 4 year old program starting in Jan 2012.

2012 is off and running! Little lambs will soon be running in our building, at least 8 of them. We look forward to working on Spring things like our garden and Easter program. The Christmas play was a success, over 100 in attendance and plenty of food.
Great News!! We will be sharing God in a new program for 4 year olds in January. It will be run by volunteers so please call quickly to reserve your spot in this new ministry. It will be on Tue. & Thur. 9:30am to 11:30 am and only 8 children will be in the club. (Little Lambs Learning Club) Don’t assume we have enough help (which we don’t) so call now. I need a lead teacher willing to commit for the 2 days through May 17.
needs are as follows:
-Prayer-for certain family situations and continued support from churches and individuals
- VOLUNTEERS for After School Program 2:30-5 M-F (or any part of that time frame). We are currently at 22 children with a long waiting list. We cannot take any more children until I have definite schedule of volunteers. Mon and Fri are OK and Wed from 4-5.ASP is for K-5th. We also need volunteers to bring our ladies bible study group lunch on Thursdays. We currently avg. 17-20 weekly. Little Lamb Learning club for 4 year olds, T & Th, 9:30am-11:30am.
–financial support for operating expenses: electric, gas,water etc. make donations to the Roanoke Valley Baptist Association. Add the mission center to your church’s budget for year round support.
-continual donations of non perishable food to give out monthly bags of groceries (staples and sometimes a treat would be nice) also need foods that meet Diabetic diets (we give out the last Thursday of the month) Set up a year round box, I would be glad to help you with this. We have found another source of affordable food boxes through Good Faith Food Box ministry. Sponsor ships of $35 per box will be used in family situations that can’t even afford that. (check out their website)
-always in need of paper products: plates, cups (6-8oz) bowls, paper towels, bacterial wipes, napkins, forks, spoons
-blankets to use inside the quilts (queen preferred but will take any used or new no electric ones)also in need of fabric, sewing machine needles and thread; we need at least 4 machines worked on or $50 ea to take to shop. We donated 22 quilts to Hopetree family services Dec 6 and over 65 to date in the last 3 years. We also hope to sell some quilts this year so call about this.
-clear plastic cutting sheets(3 to a pack at Walmart)
-tall 13 gallon trash bags and 40-45 gallon (or bigger)
-coffee, creamer & sugar in pour containers
-copy paper(we are out) toner for the big copier ($100 a year which I will need by Dec 31))
-GA and RA sponsorship to help purchase vest , award badges and magazines
–a very small garden tiller to help start backyard gardens
-plastic grocery bags
-4×6 photo paper
-sponsors for monthly bus passes $24
-no more egg cartons are needed at this time
-cushy mat for kitchen floor
-finger paints all colors
-sheet cake pans
-10 gallons of bleach
-whole Campbell soup labels
–A group or individual to sponsor 2 gallons white, 1 gallon chocolate milk & 2 loaves of bread a week for After School
-laundry supplies for life skill class in After School
-Clorox cleanup liquid and wipes
-yard tools, shovel, hoe, leaf blower etc.
-newborn baby items (diapers, lotions, etc) for our “mothers to be” of our After School Children
-latex elastic gloves (medium and small for the children)
-mop bucket with a handle squeeze
-bagless Bissel vacuum (lightweight)
-4-6 fold up easels for the table top or stand up (for 4 year old club) Art paper to go with it
-start saving for Easter food boxes (will need 50)
-Preschool learning type toys; dinosaurs, cars, dolls, closeable sand box, etc.
-easy simple crafts for 4 year olds
