Busy, busy, busy!

Baptist Mission Center kids enjoy having Broaddus Memorial Baptist Church's team with them.Today marked the beginning of a very busy week! Broaddus Memorial Baptist Church arrived Sunday from Mechanicsville, Va. They began a Bible School for the Baptist Community Center children this morning. There were not as many children today than before in previous weeks, but we believe the amount will pick up.

Additionally, Broaddus is blessing our neighbors, 17th Street Baptist Church, with a new roof. They will begin the project and another team in a few weeks will finish it.

In other news, so far we have over $130 towards clothes for a Friendship House teen girl. We hope to go shopping this Wednesday afternoon at Target. Our goal is $200, but $130 is a fantastic start.

Through the WMU of Virginia Updraft mission program, two smaller teams from Bruington Baptist Church and Beulah Baptist Church outside Richmond will be helping out this week. They will be volunteering at the food ministry, with the ladies programs, at the Rescue Mission, and with the youth at Baptist Friendship House.

God is really moving at the centers. Contact us to learn more how you can join Him here in downtown Roanoke!

Hello to all. I know I have not commented in a while but working for God allows me no computer time but I would like to up date just a little. The blessings at the community center are over whelming.I only wish you all could see how God is working. Ten children have been sponsored to take swim lessons, a washer & dryer haven donated(almost brand new) for the life skill classes being started this fall in after school, a brand new storage (12×12) is being built right now, special pricing for our ladies bible study group has been given to attend the Extraordinary Women’s conference in Sept.,the children’s garden is yielding vegetables, some new playground equipment has been donated plus more. I knew God was powerful but lately the blessings have been overwhelming. Now if we could have about 20 dedicated volunteers for After School this fall we would have an ASP that other mission centers would use as examples of God’s power. With that many volunteers we could offer a lot of one on one and really teach the children what Jesus is all about. I was told this week by a long time active serving missionary that another missionary friend quit working in a mission center because no one in 7 years had accepted Christ. We should never give up and remember things happen in God’s time not ours. It actually took me 7 years to win my best friend to Christ and oh how the angels in heaven danced. I have been working on one person for 32 years now. Patience and God’ time my friends. By volunteering and giving your most valuable asset, time, you may plant seeds you may never see results of but you have done what God has asked you to do. Well friends I must go and I will fill you in on other blessings.
