How We Serve
The Baptist Mission Centers try to serve our community in a number of different ways:
- After School Ministry
- Youth Ministry
- Ladies Bible Study
- Summer Programs
- Adult Programs
After School Ministry
Both centers operate an After-School Ministry for elementary school children. Baptist Community Center has a maximum of 25 children enrolled in a five day a week program while Baptist Friendship House has a maximum of 10 children enrolled two days a week.
The ministry offers:
- Homework help
- Bible lesson
- Snack-time
- Recess (weather permitting)
- Music
- Crafts
Youth Ministry
Baptist Friendship House ministers to several area youth in partnership with Virginia Heights Baptist Church. The youth are at-risk. We try to build relationships with them while providing opportunities for discipleship and fellowship.
Ladies Bible Study
The Ladies Bible Study meets every Tuesday and Thursday at 10:00am. Each center has its own study group; Baptist Friendship House has 15 ladies enrolled and Baptist Community Center has 25 ladies enrolled.
On Tuesdays at Baptist Friendship House, the ladies play Bible Bingo and then share a small meal. Baptist Community Center ladies sew quilts for the battered women’s shelter. An in-depth Bible study is conducted on Thursdays and a larger meal is served afterward.
We have a tremendous need for volunteers to help serve the meal. If you, your missions group, and/or your church would like to sign up to help once a month, please let us know.
Adult Programs
Baptist Friendship House started a new Coupon/Budget Club that meets once a month on Monday evenings. We gather together to cut and share coupons, share budget tips, and learn how to stretch our dollar.
Future adult programs are scheduled to be offered such as Sewing/Quilting, Scrapbooking, Crafts, Resume help, and Computer classes.
Summer Programs
Each Summer each center offers all sorts of camps and opportunities for children. Summer 2010 will feature overnight camps, sports camps, Vacation Bible School, and Fun Weeks.
