YEC – Roanoke

(YEC) YOUTH ENCOUNTER – ROANOKE VALLEY
Friday, February 26, 2010
7:00-9:00 pm
Fellowship Community Church
1226 Red Lane Extension, Salem, VA 24153

What’s Your Story?

Every day the story of your student’s lives is being written and what they do with their lives affect eternity.  What is their story?  What are they living for?  What will people say about them?

Bring your 6th-12th graders to YEC this year so they can see how their individual stories connect with the greater story of God.  Teenagers will leave knowing that their lives are intimately tied to a greater story – The Story of Jesus Christ and they will understand how to share that gospel story with others!

Leaders

Brent Gambrell pursued a lifestyle of popularity, power and wealth.  In addition to the money … alcohol, drugs  and sexuality were very much a part of the lifestyle Brent was leading before giving his life to Christ.

Seth Franco in the 7th grade wrote an essay stating that he wanted to be a professional basketball player and a preacher.  He has been living that dream.  In October of 2003, Seth became the first Caucasian Harlem Globetrotter since 1942!  He utilizes his basketball skills in sharing Christ with others.

Thomas Brown (Worship Leader) is the Pastor of Worship at New Century Community Church, Roanoke, VA.  Thomas has shared his walk of life with many incredible friends and musicians and those who will help and encourage him.

There is no cost for attending this conference.  For more information contact the Roanoke Valley Baptist Association (366-7631 or Bob@rvba.org.

WMUV Standing Rock Virtual Prayer Walk

During the last two weeks of July, WMUV, in partnership with the Roanoke Valley Baptist Association, will be taking more than 300 volunteers to the Standing Rock Reservation in the Dakotas.

These Native Americans deal with unemployment, poverty, alcoholism and domestic violence on a daily basis. We covet your prayers as we minister alongside our native American friends to bring the hope and love of Christ to 7 communities.

We’ve created a virtual prayer walk so you can learn more about and pray for the specific needs on the reservation.
