Powell River Mission Trip Postponed

We wanted to touch base with our churches about the Powell River Mission Trip. At this time, we are going to postpone the trip that was scheduled for March 2010 until hopefully Fall 2010.

Please keep making ditty bags, knitting scarves, collecting books for BookNet and money to fill the ditty bags.

We appreciate so much your support of this mission trip and as soon as we have more information to pass along we will send it to you.

If you have any questions, please call Debra Burgess at 345-6340 or Pat Dillon at 562-1118.

Thanks again,

RVBA & RVBA WMU

Hunger in Roanoke – video

How will you respond?

You can help by:

  • sponsoring a $30 Angel Food box for a family that will feed them for one week.
  • collecting non-perishable food for our upcoming emergency food pantry.
  • purchasing food or donating funds for our After-School programs and Ladies programs

If desired, we can place the video on DVD for viewing for your small group or congregation. Literature can also be sent detailing the ways to connect with our neighbors at the mission centers. Please email Nathan (nathan@rvba.org) or call him at 540.632.2632.

2011 SENIOR ADULT EMPHASIS

Each year the Roanoke Valley Baptist Association provides at least one major evangelistic/ministry emphasis (event, conference, etc.) for our area.  We have sponsored various age-group emphases (children, youth, young adults, median adults and senior adults) as well as reaching other people-groups (ethnic, social, etc.).  Prayer and seeking the Lord’s leadership has been and continues to be a vital part of this process.

The RVBA Evangelism Committee will emphasize reaching senior adults in 2011.  The last time we had such an emphasis upon senior adults was 2006.  We are excited about the possibilities and looking forward to what the Lord will do.

Airlee Court Baptist Church’s Open Mic Night

Come join us at Airlee Court for Open Mic Night!  It is going to be held monthly in the sanctuary on the third Friday night, 6:30-8 pm.  It’s open to anyone who would like to sing or play an instrument, or just come to listen to Christian music.  This is being led by our music director, Andrew Miller.

We’ll have a scheduled group to perform, and then the mic will be open to anyone in the audience.  We will have a fellowship hour afterward with refreshments in the Fellowship Hall.  We hope you can join us.
