Financial Grants

Financial Grants Are Available From The RVBA

Check it out to see if you qualify…your association wants to help you go on a mission trip!

1. The association wants to assist churches and individuals go on Partnership Mission trips. We include a small amount in our budget for scholarships. Those funds are managed by the Missions Development Council. We believe those who volunteer for a mission trip should be aware of the financial costs of the trip and be willing to make a sacrifice to go. The association will help as we are able, and usually a church will rally around the volunteer and give assistance. It is unfair to expect others to finance your trip, and volunteers need to assume they will pay their own way if necessary.
2. The guidelines for the Missions Development Council grants are as follows:
3. The Missions Development Council (MDC) will evaluate and make decisions regarding grants. The MDC meets every other month of the year.
4. Because we feel churches need to give assistance to volunteers, applications from individuals will not generally be accepted unless his/her church has had other recent individual or group volunteers.
5. Because a church may find it difficult to assist a large team, church which send two or more persons on a team may apply.
6. Because of our partnership relationships, preference will be given to those who participate in a partnership mission trip through the RVBA or Virginia Baptist Mission Board.
7. Applications should be sent as soon as possible, but will not be reviewed prior to a year from anticipated service.
8. Because we want to encourage churches who have never had a volunteer or team go on a partnership mission trip, preference will be given to churches who have never received grants.
9. The associational Partnership Missions Coordinator is encouraged to utilize the grant funds in order to maintain his/her mission awareness.
10. Scholarships for any individual shall not exceed 50% of the cost of the trip.
11. Forms may be obtained by calling the RVBA Office at 540-366-7631 or e-mailing at RVBAssn@aol.com
12. The MDC reserves the right to hear special appeals when requests which might not meet these guidelines.
