T. Ivey Adams currently lives in Salem after retiring from active ministry. He is a graduate of Troy State and Southwestern Seminary. He served a number of churches as pastor, the last Beulah in Franklin County. He also served on the staff of the Baptist Children’s Home in Salem. Ray Allen is a native Virginian, educated at the University of Richmond (B.A. & D.D.), Southern (M.Div.) and Southeastern Seminary (D.Min.). He has pastored several churches in Virginia, the last at Blacksburg Baptist Church. He retired early and lives at Smith Mt. Lake. His number is 540-297-4539.

Richard B. Brown was born in the Valley. He is a graduate of Averett College and Southern Seminary. He is currently serving as chaplain for a local hospital, but would be available for supply in local churches. His phone number is 540-977-1718.

Allison Burnette is a retired nurse and ordained minister. He is active in his church at Riverdale Baptist in Roanoke and is enrolled in the John Leland Theological Seminary. Claude Carter (born in Roanoke in 1932),  1) Attended Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and graduated from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary, where in 2007, he obtained a Master of Divinity degree, 2) is a graduate of both: a) Virginia Tech, with a degree in accounting and b) Washington and Lee University School of Law, 3) served in the Army artillery, 4) served the Roanoke Valley Baptist Association as its Moderator, 5) served as a member of the Virginia Baptist Mission Board, and on the Boards of a) Oak Hill Academy and b) the Virginia Baptist Children’s Home and 6) has served as Supply Pastor at Churches in Roanoke, Salem, Botetourt and Bedford. John Cochran recently retired as Minister of Education at First, Roanoke after serving there for 30 years. John is a graduate of Carson-Newman and Southwestern. He has been active in Baptist work in our Valley as well as in the SBC. His phone number is 540-977-4406.


Danny Collins recently retired as Pastor at Fairlawn Baptist (Fairlawn, VA) where he had served as pastor for 27 years during two tenures.    He has preached all over the world, including Peru, Korea, Haiti and for the last 8 years leading teams to Honduras.  He was educated at Bluefield College and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree at Carson Newman College.  He earned his Masters Degree at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.  He can be reached at 540-639-2425 or 540-392-8534 or email:  danway84@gmail.com.     

Harold Cook  retired after 25 years as pastor at Springwood Baptist.  Served as interim at Mill Creek Baptist on two occasions and interim at Troutville.  Since retirement  he has served as interim at Villa Heights, Enon, Airlee Court and Lynn Haven.  Attended Bluefield Junior College, BA, Wayland Baptist University, Plainview, TX, MA, Virginia Tech, Completed one year at Southeastern Seminary.  Phone 540-797-3402. 

Charles “Chips” Doyle is a lifelong resident of the Valley. He pastored Hollins Road for a number of years prior to his retirement. He is a graduate of Concord College and Southeastern Seminary. He has served as interim in several churches. His phone number is 540-366-9222.

Rick Elmore, who pastored both the Tabernacle Baptist Church and Cave Spring Baptist Church in the Roanoke Valley, has retired after 44 years of ministry in Southern Baptist Churches. John W. Charles Fuller was pastor of First Baptist, Roanoke for nearly 40 years before retiring. He is well known in Roanoke and around the nation as an excellent preacher and pastor. He is available for supply. Call him at 540-774-3849.

Eric K. Gabbert has been preaching for many years. He plays the guitar, has a singing ministry , and has experience as a pastor. Eric and his wife Chichee enjoy singing and serving the Lord together. Doug Gibson is a native Virginian educated at the Villanova University (B.S. Commerce & Finance), Lynchburg College (M.A. Business) and Liberty Theological Seminary (MAR Church Studies). He recently completed Interim position at North Roanoke Baptist Church as Minister for Discipleship & Missions. David G. Hardin is a native of Roanoke. Educated at National Business College, Radford and Southwestern Seminary, he has been active in his home church, Windsor Hills here in Roanoke. Thomas G. Harvey has served churches in our area for the past 35 years to include Franklin County, Salem, Lexington and Christiansburg.  He also pastored a church in Nova Scotia.  Mission trips have taken him and his wife Nancy to Costa Rica, Brazil, England and Switzerland.  He is currently on the Board of Oak Hill Academy and served twice as a representative to the Virginia Baptist Mission Board.  He is a graduate of UVa. and Southern Seminary (MDiv. & D.Min.) and was an infantry training officer in the U.S. Army.  He retired to his family home in Salem on April 1, 2011.  He is available for supply or interim.  His telephone number is 1-540-589-0090 and email:  tghscotia@hotmail.com.

David Henry recently retired from the pastorate after serving churches throughout Virginia and has moved to Roanoke. He is a graduate of the University of Richmond and Southeastern. His number is 989-6884.

Douglas F C Keffer, Ph D, is currently counseling full time at New Beginnings Counseling Services, which he began in 1993.  He has been preaching since he was sixteen, serving churches for over twenty-three years in Virginia, Indiana, and Illinois.  Douglas holds his earned doctorate in counseling psychology from Carolina University of Theology and has a passion to help people with their struggles by teaching them how God created them.  He is available to supply preach and can be reached at 540.562.5068 or 540.977.9505, and emailed at dfckeffer@aol.com.

Steve Manuel has served as pastor, youth minister, education minister, music minister, consultant, and missionary during his many years of ministry in churches in Virginia, Texas, Florida, and Mexico. For eighteen years he and his wife Barbara were with the International Mission Board. He later served as Director of Missions for the Strawberry Baptist Association. He holds degrees from Mars Hill College and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and has been trained and certified by the Center for Congregational Health for Intentional Interim Ministry. Philip E. Motley is a native of Danville, Virginia and was raised in Norfolk. He is a graduate of Georgia Inst. of Technology, Duke Divinity School, and School of Pastoral Care at N.C. Baptist Hospital. He served as pastor at Grandin Court for six years. His number is 540-774-6247.

Curtis E. Nester retired from Mountain View Baptist Church, Catawba, VA after 18 years as pastor there.  He attended Bluefield College, Concord College and graduated from Campbell University with a degree in Religious Education.  He has pastored a number of churches in Virginia, West Virginia and North Carolina over his 52 years in the ministry.  Curtis was ordained by Memorial Baptist Church in Pulaski.  He is presently a member of Halesford Baptist Church in Wirtz, VA and is living in Moneta, VA.  His number is 540-297-8344.

Rev. Rick Painter has recently returned to the Botetourt/Roanoke area and is available for pulpit supply, interim, or worship leadership.  Rick earned his BA in church music from Bluefield College and his MDiv from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.  He is a Botetourt native and has served churches as in music, education, and youth ministry.  He also pastored churches in Covington, Narrows, and Pamplin City, was a NAMB missionary in Daleville, and has led contemporary worship teams in several local churches.  Rick has several years experience working with “at risk” children and teens as Mental Health Support Specialist and Counselor.  Rick is part of a leadership team for starting a new ministry of equipping churches to effectively engage the community and empowering people to move off of the government support system.  Rick can be contacted via phone at 434-420-2635 or via email at revrickp@hotmail.com. 

Rev. John S. Parker, B.A. Mars Hill College 1965, M.Div. Southeastern 1972, ThM Southeastern 1977.  Rev. Parker has served churches as Minister of Education and as Pastor.  He served as a Chaplain in the United States Army from July 1979-2000.  Retired as a LTC with an Army Legion of Merit Award.  He lives in Moneta, VA and can be contacted at:  540-525-6913.

Albert (Al) Peverall, Jr., a native of Roanoke, retired from Jackson Memorial Baptist Church in 2005 after 16 years. Active in state and local association Baptist leadership, he had previously served over six years as pastor of Tabernacle in Salem and associate pastor for ten years at First Baptist in Roanoke. He graduated from Wake Forest (BA), Southeastern Seminary (M Div), and Southern Seminary D Min).  Al has a passion to preach/teach God’s word; help churches return to unity and mission, and encourage/mentor young pastors. Since retirement, he served four churches in the Hampton Roads area as a transitional pastor.  Having recently relocated to the Roanoke Valley, Al is available to serve as a pulpit supply or possible interim. Doug Price graduated from Campbellsville University in Central Kentucky with a B.S. in Pastoral Ministries, attended Liberty University working toward an M.A. in Christian Leadership. He provided pulpit supply for multiple churches while in Central Kentucky. He is on staff at Fellowship Community Church as the Facilities Director. He is 36 and married to Megan for 14 years.
